Finale in Langkawi

Article about Selangor International Regatta Finale in Langkawi.

October 21, 2010 -- Sailing enthusiasts are set to descend on the Malaysian resort of Langkawi towards the end of next month to witness the climax of the 2010 Selangor International Regatta.
The country's oldest contest of its kind, which was first held in 1990, sees competitors set sail from Port Klang in Selangor on November 20th and make their way towards Langkawi, stopping off at Pangkor and Penang along the way.
On Thursday November 25th, participants will sail through the night to reach Langkawi early the following day, with the Friday set aside for yachtsmen to relax, go shopping and play golf.
However, people staying in Langkawi hotels will still be able to watch some sailing action on this day if they head down to Bass Harbour near the Royal Langkawi Yacht Club.
Postponed events and races for specific classes of yacht will be contested throughout the day.
The regatta comes to a head on Saturday November 27th, with local media and TV reporters typically flocking to enjoy the final few contests at the harbour.
A gala prize-giving dinner will then be held at the clubhouse, with HRH the Sultan of Selangor typically gracing the occasion.
More than 60 vessels took part in the competition in 2009, with the entrants choosing a variety of yachts ranging from racing models to classic cruisers dating back almost a century.
For more information on this event, visit the Selangor International Regatta website or contact the organisers on (+60) 3 3168 6964

Island of The Eagle

Article about Langkawi Island of The Eagle.

Langkawi is such a fascinating travel destination. This beautiful island has also kept a very popular legend, the legend of Mahsuri. It was told that  the rule of Sultan Abdullah Mukarram Shah II saw the arrival of a man named Pandak Maya. After eating some magical grain his wife gave birth to a beautiful daughter who was named as Mahsuri. But after marrying Mat Deris, the son of the chief of Langkawi, she was accused of adultery. False accusations led her to the death bed. It is believed that when she was stabbed white blood gushed out just to prove her innocence. As such the land was cursed for seven generations. To counter it a mausoleum was erected and the family was welcomed back to the island. Now, Langkawi become one of the attraction in Malaysia tourism industry. Among popular destination in Langkawi are The Pregnant Maid Island, The Lion Island, Chenang Beach, Kuah Town, Mount of Mat Cincang, The Seven Wells Waterfall, Underwater World and many more. Langkawi: Pantai Chenang

Above about Pantai Chenang.

A beautiful beach, with beautiful nature and beautiful people. This beach is the center of the action and adventure in Langkawi are, i think. You have the opportunities to try jet ski, parasailing, and for family, you can try the banana boat. I think for the local here, the price is quite steep, as for 30 minute ride, you’ll pay RM90 minimum for jet ski and parasailing. Maybe for the foreigners is quite cheap, don't know. Try asking them.

And at night, the beach is quite dark, but there a few place to hang out at beach

Langkawi Leisure and Luxury

Above about leisure and luxury at Langkawi. Read and try product from the bottom of this blog under sponsor links. Hope you enjoy it.

Langkawi has 99 islands when the tide is up, then the tide recedes to reveal five more of the most fascinating atolls. Most of the islands are uninhabited and a popular activity for many people is to pick an island and spend a day in the lovely idyllic beaches. Explore the island, having a picnic or pretending to dig up treasures hidden by the legendary pirates, without any human intrusions. You can welcome plenty of wildlife though with monitor lizards and bright jewel colored birds popping in to say hello. Lie back and watch the majestic eagles riding the air currents in the clear blue sky. Alone or with company of your choice, this is a splendid way to have a day off.

Langkawi lives up to all its clichés - beautiful turquoise seas dotted with islands of emerald green and limestone outcrops standing guard over the magnificence. It also has bright green paddy fields and some lush jungles. Time stands still and loses all meaning in this tropical paradise.

If you want to get away from the bounties of Nature, enjoy a dizzying cable car ride! This ride is in two parts, takes you up the steep side to Gunung Mat Cincang, the highest point on the island. There are spectacular views and on a day when visibility is good, you can have a bird's eye view of Thailand. At the bottom is Oriental village where you can buy souvenirs and handicrafts.

Langkawi hotels accommodation consists mostly of lovely resorts near the beaches. There are smaller and cheaper hotels in the business centre - Kuah and around the vibrant and active Pentai Cenang beach. Book your accommodation through Excitehotels.com and get yourself a great deal with up to 75 percent discounts.

Langkawi is a child's paradise with naturally fun beach activities such as building sandcastles, chasing mud crabs, counting the eagles or attempting to tickle a fish out of water. Keep an eye out and you might spot a dolphin or two in the distance. These gorgeous friendly creatures abound in the Andaman Islands.

Langkawi boasts of some excellent hotels so foodies can gorge themselves on delicious meals especially seafood. Massages are offered by both the resorts and individual masseurs so be sure and indulge yourself in a long decadent massage. Before leaving, take advantage of its duty free status and do some shopping.

Langkawi Island Paradise

Article about Langkawi Island Paradise for travelers.

The largest one is the eponymous Pulau Langkawi, barely an hour's flight from the Malaysian capital city of Kuala Lumpur.

The words of praise we had read on Wikipedia could have hardly prepared us for the picturesque beauty of the place. Even the small airport seemed to have a soul of its own, a smiling concierge welcoming us to warm golden beaches that held promises of relaxation and romance.

Picture perfect
Instead of a fleet of airline jets, there were only two small aircrafts standing on the tarmac when we arrived. The runway was bordered by green cushioned hills framed by a never-ending stretch of light blue sky, dotted with snowy white clouds.
There was no one to hurry us across to the terminal; instead we could take our time in looking around and posing for pictures against the picture perfect background. The inside of the terminal also projected an aura of cheerfulness and even as we collected our luggage we could sense it would be a great trip.

A scenic drive
That Langkawi is first and foremost a tourist attraction was evident by the body language of the locals. From the friendly lady who helped us to get a temporary prepaid connection to the smiling tour representative who met us at the gate, everyone gave us a warm welcome.

The ride to the hotel was a scenic one and when we reached the Berjaya Resort and Spa it seemed we had found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Chalets on stilts
Spanning over a vast expanse, the resort boasts of winding pathways through lush greenery, delightful little wooden chalets on stilts instead of regular rooms and a private beach with emerald green water lapping at its edges.

Indeed the place is so sprawling that electrical carts are available for guests to move to and fro from their chalets. But one jarring point was the lax room service. That the tourist season was at a low at the time we visited was probably the reason for it but it was inconvenient all the same. http://www.bookmytrip.in/holidays/andman-island-101.html

A theme village
Within walking distance of the resort, there is a theme village, locally renowned as Oriental Village, which offers tourist attractions such as a cable car ride, animal enclosures, food joints offering local recipes and the mandatory souvenir shops.
The buildings are painted with vibrant hues of yellow and orange and the overall effect is of a snug little hamlet enclosed by towering mountains.

Spectacular views
The cable car ride was an unforgettable experience. The ride is conducted in two legs, covering two viewing points. At the first point there is a narrow pathway descending a little way down to the Sky Bridge.

Walking across this suspension bridge was quite a thrill as it swayed gently in the chilly winds. The view from there was spectacular, looking over to the distant mountains and the vast expanse of the sea beneath.

The setting sun conjured up brilliant hues on the rippling waters and a sense of tranquility came upon us as we stood dumbstruck, overwhelmed by Nature's beauty. Like Jack and Rose in Titanic, we felt like 'kings of the world' and got a photo taken of the two of us in that famous pose as well.

Art and beauty
Our itinerary included a half-day city tour comprising of visiting an Arts and Craft centre for Batik art, an underwater aquatic museum and the Eagle Square.

At the Batik Art centre one can learn how the Batik paintings are created and can also browse through the mind boggling collection of vibrant sketches of flora and fauna on cotton and silk fabrics, available for sale in the showroom. So attractive are these that one can hardly walk out empty-handed and we proved to be no different.

The guardian spirit
The Aquatic museum is a delight with its enormous aquarium housing different forms of marine life, from sharks, fishes and sting rays swimming overhead to penguins, seals and various reptilian species.

Another interesting photography spot is the Eagle Square, which embodies the guardian spirit of Langkawi in the form of a huge eagle statue. In fact the name Langkawi, which translates to reddish brown eagle in colloquial Malay, is derived from this majestic bird.
http://www.bookmytrip.in/packages/packages_to_andaman_is ...

Cruising through the mangroves
Another additional tour that we had opted for was the Mangrove tour. For a private tour for two, the charges are quite high but as part of a group it comes down considerably. For a party of 4 to 8 people however, the private tour turns out to be cheaper.
The tour is essentially a cruise through the mangroves with highlights such as limestone caves housing colonies of bats, eagle feeding and a fish farm where the tourists can touch and feed different species of fishes.

One type of fish that we saw, called the Archer fish, had a remarkable ability of spitting over a considerable distance in order to procure food. But the best part was cruising in the open sea, the wind in your face and the vast expanse of water ahead.
One can be excused for imagining himself to be the master of some mighty vessel set sail in search of new lands or great riches. However, if you are Indian your fantasies are all the more likely to be interrupted by your guide enthusiastically pointing out the island where the title song of the blockbuster Hindi film Kaho Naa  ... Pyaar Hai had been filmed.

Beach bliss
To visit Langkawi and not to enjoy a day or two at the beach would be an unforgivable sin. Walking on the warm sand barefoot, dodging a tiny crab or two scuttling by, indulging in some water sports, frolicking in the sparkling waters or simply lounging on a beach-chair, each moment was sheer bliss. http://www.bookmytrip.in/india-tourism/lakshadweep.html

Destination Wedding Langkawi Island

Some info about Langkawi.

More and more brides today are choosing destination weddings over traditional
ceremonies. Couples are now looking to add an “exotic twist” to their big day.

Formerly, destination weddings are the exclusive domain of celebrities and the ultra – rich and famous, however in recent years it has become accessible and affordable for anyone and sometimes it’s far cheaper comparing to traditional wedding back home.

f properly planned, a destination wedding can not only be a saving, it can also turn your wedding day into an unforgettable “vacation” for you and your guests.

There are several reasons why destination weddings are getting more popular now days.

1. Destination weddings often combine the wedding and the honeymoon.

2. Having you wedding away from home usually means that only the closest friends and family will be invited or you can choose to be alone just with your partner.

3 Destination weddings allow you to host a less formal wedding or an out-of-the-ordinary ceremony.

4. Return to a beloved place or to be at a dream or exotic location.

Langkawi has fast become a popular destination for couples who wanted to have their wedding abroad. There are many spots in the island that you could have you wedding hosted. Furthermore, most hotels and resort in Langkawi offer wedding packages customised to different needs and budgets. I have written in my previous posting with regards to possible wedding venues in Langkawi.

Here some info about Japanese Restaurant.

From the poster on the exhibition board in Berjaya Resort, Pulau Langkawi, the word ‘Japanese restaurant‘ made the kids drool. They just thought of lovely sushi! On the last day of our trip, we made it to have our lunch there which is located in Oriental Village near the entrance of Berjaya Resort.

Delicious food at Langkawi

Some info about it.

It is time to eat now. Malaysia is rich with its local foods. There are numerous of local food that you should try. For me, if you came to Malaysia and eat at the five star hotel without trying the local foods. There is no point for you to have vacation here. Go out and try the local foods especially the hawker. Some of them serve the best food in town but make sure they are clean.

When I went to Langkawi, there is a very huge and beautiful restaurant near to my hotel. Then I took a cab to Kuah for some shopping, the taxi driver was very friendly he told us where we should go for shopping plus he told us where is the best restaurant in Langkawi. He also told us that the huge and beautiful restaurant is very expensive and the food are not tasty. After some arrangement he agree to take us to his recommend restaurant.

At 8.00 p.m he pick up us at hotel lobby. He took us to the Kampung Nelayan Restaurant located in Kuah. However this restaurant is very hard find. For you information this restaurant was featured in Jalan-Jalan Cari Makan( a famous culinary television how). So no wonder there are no table available for us. We have to wait about 10 minutes to get a table but it worth to wait. All the seafood are very fresh and the most important part is cheap.

After about an hour later, the taxi driver came to send us back to the hotel room. We bought some foods for the taxi driver as a symbol of thank you. The food was so good and it makes me forget about my high blood pressure. I think I should take a good care of my health after this.

Ahmad Syahrir is a local Malaysia that was living in Malaysia since he was born. He has see thousands of tourist having trouble in Malaysia. Now he decided to give some guide to them in order to make their best vacation ever in Malaysia.

Contrary to the usual western 5 Star marble, the 350 wooden chalets scattered among 30 acres of lush tropical landscaped gardens are built in the style of a traditional Malay Village.
