Above are the popular islands in Langkawi.
Langkawi, Kedah’s most famous destination, is a reclusive retreat for the tired and beaten down corporate executive, an ideal island resort for a family, a romantic escapade for honeymooners, a heaven for water sports enthusiasts and a sanctuary for sun worshippers. It comprises a group of 99 islands making it an idle setting for a romance novel. Among the popular islands are Pulau Dayang Bunting (Isle of the Pregnant Maiden), Pulau Singa Besar, a wildlife sanctuary, Pulau Payar, a marine park and Pulau Beras Basah (Isle of Wet Rice), a popular spot for swimming.
Langkawi is also the regional shopping hub for duty-free goods which offers both international and local products. Its central commercial area, the town of Kuah is a shopping haven. At there, you can find many stores and malls providing the tax-free goods. The island is also the place for the exciting Langkawi International Maritime and Air Show (LIMA). Other attractive places at Langkawi are the Mahsuri Mausoleum, Air Hangat hot springs, Galeria Perdana, Eagle’s Square, Seven Wells, Underwater World, a crocodile farm and the Tanjung Rhu Beach.
